I am in my twenties but feel so very old and tired - just don’t understand.

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

Body never lies. Like or dislike that’s the truth. It”s about the time that we need to start listening to our bodies because the body talks to us in so many different ways. When we feel old what does that really mean? Literally it means that we don’t have energy, kind of sleepy and tired, can’t concentrate, can’t exercise, may be can’t even eat what we would like eat because of digestion issues and likewise. Who likes to feel that way? We don’t but our body does. So when the body is conveying this message to us, we need to pay some attention to it and start thinking what we are doing (not the body) that is making our body feeling this way.

There are a couple of things first of all that we need to start thinking about, and those are (a) what are we putting into this body (nutrition) and (b) what is getting out of this body (elimination). Generally speaking, answers to these two basic questions leads
to an answer that we may be looking for. Also, are we getting more out of this body than we are putting in? May sound like philosophical questions but in reality taking the time to think about this may give us the clue to start walking in the direction of our choice. When body is drained of nutrients and cannot perform the basic required functions, it starts to slow down in its great wisdom to protect itself. At the same
time it also gives us the message - hey, get up and do something about me - I am not doing so well, At this time its up to us to start finding the help to make us feel better.

The first and foremost step is to concentrate on nutrition and elimination as mentioned above. However, out of these two steps, the better order of action is just the reverse i.e. looking into elimination first rather than giving good nutrition first. You may not go wrong either way but the question you need to answer is using a simple analogy – would you like to put beautiful piece of furniture in a room full of filth and dirt. The furniture does not look pretty and loses its value and the room still is stinky and bad, and cannot look any better even by the addition of valuable new furniture. You may not still want to walk into the room. So better choice is to make the cleaning a first priority and then adding any thing to it will bring value to it. There is no hard and fast rule to it and depending on the need, the choice can be made but if you had the time to pick out of the two, this guideline can be followed. So, first start on a cleansing regimen and most probably everything else will start falling in place if done wisely, methodically and patiently. This may be your first step towards addressing many important issues that your body is leading you to.

I have tried so many things to look better and feel better about myself but nothing seems to work. Why?

I think I would like to talk about persistence here. When we say that we have tried so many things - it shows that we are looking for some kind of results from some activity that we did regardless of the subject matter. We are trying to change whatever we see in the present. The present is not making us happy and so we want to change it. But at the same time we want the change fast. We forget to realize that whatever shape we are in – physically or mentally did not happen in a day. And when it was gradually happening it was faithfully giving us some warning signals which we ignored. It was easy to ignore at that time because the change was so subtle and so slow that neglecting it did not cause any alarm. So we ignored it to today until we feel that we are so unhappy about it. And guess what – we want to reverse it fast. Now we don’t want to ignore it and want to change immediately because our mind wants it that way. However, if it is the body then it has certain rules and guidelines that it has to follow and will reverse the same way as it moved forward. If it is mental issue, still biological changes do happen with time and can only reverse in due course.

Now trying to change it fast by trying different things one after the other does not help really. There is no magic way that is a good and healthy to reverse the damage done to our body by our own choices. When we say that we tried so many things we are conveying the message that we tried something for a short period of time, did not see the results that we wanted, not how body works, and we moved on to try something else. Now we are treating the body as the laboratory where we can conduct any experiment when we want and if we don’t get the results that we look for we are going to move on. No one is there to check if the results that we want to get are realistic or non realistic. It’s our choice and we can set whatever we want- right? And based on our short term trial based results, we also take the liberty to declare if the things we tried are valid or invalid. How strange!!!!!

I believe persistence in staying with one of the things that you do to improve the situation is good. You need to evaluate the situation, give it some reasonable time, come up with a realistic approach to handle the problem, stick with it for the set time and then go into the conclusion phase before trying out the other thing. It is also good to determine why the activity you tried did not work. Is it that you need to do the same correction activity you are doing for a longer period of time or move over to the other activity to gain the benefits. Take advice from someone knowledgeable, unbiased individual who can help you guide the proper way.

Be reasonable, realistic and persistent with your efforts. The results should follow a good and thoughtful plan.

I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired, can someone heal me?

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

This is a very interesting scenario – Can someone heal me? This is like asking a question can you put life impulse in me? Here is a perspective that I would like to present about this topic. If you want to grow a plant what do you do? You bring the seed, you bring the dirt, you have water, you make sure that sunlight is available etc. In other words you make the environment for the seed to germinate and grow. The better the conditions you provide and the quality of seed you have got the better growth of the plant would be. Do you think you are the one putting the life impulse in the plant by any chance? Are you even capable of doing such a thing?

It is almost a similar situation here. Healing comes from within. As you start to strengthen the body’s environment and start to provide the things it needs, the healing begins. First of all you need to admit that someone has created you. You could not be in existence without the creator – whoever it is and wherever it is and also it is immaterial what name you give him. Even in this material world the market is full of so many items and the first thing you like to know who created it and for sure you will find out once you look for it. Similarly, your body was not created without any planning. On the contrary, the designing of human body is so beautiful and complex that at the level of mind, that learns today and forgets tomorrow and constantly changes to improve, it is rather impossible. So what you can do is start giving your body the environment that is flourishing and connect to the inner self where that life current is flowing from cell to cell so beautifully so the healing can begin. Although you cannot see the life impulse, your lively existence is the proof in itself that there is vital force in action in you.

We, in our day to day life treat our bodies so rough by extracting a lot of work out of them without even noticing. Only in the evening of so after a hard day’s work we might feel a little tired. But we continue the same attitude for years. Not only so, we put some damaging products in our bodies purposely to either have fun or so called enjoyment. Then one day, may be after years, we start to feel sick and tired of being sick and tired and then start complaining. But who is at fault? Still our body is so resilient and forgiving that if we start making the right moves in all sincerity, it starts to turn around. We need to educate ourselves as to what we need to do and how to do to get where the creator of the body sees that we are making the right choices and comes to our rescue and heals us out of this misery of so called sickness.
